What is Dye Sublimation Printing?
Dye Sublimation printing is a special type of printing process that allows you to transfer photo quality images to a variety of substrates. The photographic images are permanently dyed into their substrates using a special dye ink, heat, and pressure. Dye Sublimation printing primarily works with substrates that are entirely made of polyester polymers, products that have a polyester coating, or fabrics made up of at least 60% polyester.
There have been some advancements in the polymer coatings that work with dye sublimation. Some cotton shirts are able to be printed using dye sublimation, but a carrier paper is needed to make the process work, and sometimes it is not cheap, nor user-friendly.
